Gulf Mirage M1 – Spa 1000km 1967 Winner

For the 1967 international sportscar racing season J.W. Automotive Engineering (JWAE) built and raced the Mirage M1 in Gulf Oil Corporation colours. The M1 was a Sports prototype based on the Ford GT40. and used the standard Ford GT40 V8 engine. The highlight of the M1’s short racing career was without doubt the victory by Jacky Ickx and Dick Thompson in chassis M.1003 in the 1967 Spa-Francorchamps 1000 km. This is the car you see here rendered in Joel Clark’s unique vinyl collage medium.
